Born and raised in country South Australia, I have had a fascination and love of nature my entire life. I now consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to share that passion with others from all around the world through both my podcast and leading tours.

A previous life saw me working as a chef across the world, including my first Executive Chef position at the age of 22 in Uganda. While travelling and working I had the ability to see some spectacular birds and enjoy some of the most memorable experiences of my life. One trip that will always be front of my mind was birding in Queen Elizabeth II National Park in Uganda and averaging a lifer every 2.5 minutes for 6 hours! 126 lifers in a single day.

Although I have a love for being outside and birding in general, my passion is finding those ‘bucket list’ birds for people whether it’s a difficult to see Malleefowl, a very difficult to see Black Grasswren, or a much less difficult Eastern Rosella.

I began The Birder’s Guide podcast in May 2020 after a fruitless search for an Australian birding podcast. I listen to a few podcasts from the USA but could not find anything related specifically to Australia.

After a few weeks thinking about the possibility and researching all the in’s and out’s of podcasting I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go, I figured it I was looking for one then surely other people were too. Turns out there were quite a few of us! Thank you to the first 4 or 5 guests on the show who came on and shared your stories, even though you had to deal with a very amateur podcaster!

I hope that my podcast is a way to showcase the people, the birds and the locations of Australia to a wide audience.
